Car thefts spike an ABQ


ALBUQUERQUE POLICE ARE ISSUING A WARNING TO PEOPLE VISITING ALBUQUERQUE AND ANYONE ELSE HEADING OUT FOR A BITE TO EAT DETECTIVES SAY IN RECENT MONTHS THEY VE NOTICED A SPIKE IN CAR THEFTS AT RESTAURANTS AND HOTELS ESPECIALLY NEAR I- 25 A-P-D HAS SENT WRITTEN NOTICES TO RESTAURANT AND HOTEL MANAGERS AROUND THE CITY ASKING THEM TO KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY POLICE AREN T TAKING ANY CHANCES AT THE BALLOON FIESTA EITHER John Walsh APD SPOKESMAN Patrol officers on motorcycles and on horse patrol as well as our undercover detectives will be out in force throughout this time looking and surveying for this time of crime in specific Auto thieves watch out POLICE ARE ALSO URGING PEOPLE TO MAKE GOOD USE OF THEIR CAR ALARMS AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKS AND IF YOU GO TO A RESTAURANT TRY AND SIT BY A WINDOW WHERE YOU CAN KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR CAR
