Bicyclists question intersection in wake of fatal accident

Some Albuquerque bicyclists want changes made to a bike path where one person was killed and another nearly hit about a week later
Bicyclist David Anderson was killed just over a week ago when a car veered onto a bike path from Paseo del Norte near 4th street
Another biker says he was nearly hit by an out of control car that ended up on the path in the very same spot Anderson was killed
Local bicyclists have pointed out that a concrete barrier stops where the two accidents happened—making bikers vulnerable They want the barriers extended to protect riders
One little opening– that s where two cars within a week seem to have found their way through You would think somebody would be out here right now putting barriers up to keep that from happening again How many people do we have to kill before we take action asks Richard Youngblood a local rider
But Phil Gallegos with the New Mexico Department of Transportation can t promise a quick fix to the problem
